The GEMA MDC 230 Bundle Module + Heating Cartridge WEHPW3 3.0 kW 230 V combines an MDC 230 heating module for central heating systems with a matching 230 V WLAN heating cartridge. The bundle serves the additional electric heating of heating water and is suitable for open or closed central heating systems with appropriate hydraulic and electrical integration.
The MDC module is integrated into the heating circuit, while the WEHPW3 heating cartridge provides the electric heat output. The bundle is therefore of interest for systems in which electric auxiliary heating, reheating, frost protection support, or the use of surplus electricity in the heating circuit is planned.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module is designed as an electric instantaneous water heater or heating module for central heating systems. It features a steel tank with 50 mm polyurethane foam thermal insulation, a heating circuit connection stub with G 1 1/4" female thread, and a heating cartridge sleeve with G 1 1/2" female thread.
The WEHPW3 heating cartridge delivers 3.0 kW of power at 230 V, has a 1 1/2 inch threaded connection, and offers temperature control in the range of approx. 10 to 75 °C. Operation is carried out directly on the device module and additionally via the WUG MB app.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle combines a compact heating module for the heating circuit with an adjustable electric heating cartridge. This allows electric heat to be introduced specifically into a suitable central heating system without having to assemble the module and heating cartridge separately.
The WLAN function of the heating cartridge supports convenient operation via mobile devices. Operating modes such as Manual, Eko, Smart, Plan, Away, and Boost enable flexible temperature control within the intended application limits.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 module is intended for the additional heating of heating water in central heating systems. Water or a glycol mixture suitable for heating systems with a maximum concentration of 50% is permitted as the medium.
For operation, a minimum flow rate of 171 l/h at 3.0 kW must be ensured. An additional circulation pump must be provided and connected in parallel to the heating cartridge. The system must also be protected against excessive pressure with a suitable safety valve.

Installation
The MDC 230 module is integrated in the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The pipe routing must allow complete filling and safe venting.
Installation, electrical connection and testing must be carried out by qualified specialists. Before switching on, the heating module and system must be completely filled with water and vented. The additional circulation pump must ensure the required minimum flow rate.
Notes
Operation without water is not permitted. Dry running can damage the heating element and safety-related components. The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated.
Fusing, cable cross-section, residual current protection, switching devices and hydraulic integration must be designed on site according to the system setup, power and applicable regulations.
