Product Overview & Application Range
The HKS Lazar SmartFire SF11 Automatic is an automatically fed pellet boiler with a nominal heat output of 11 kW for water-based central heating systems. The output range from 3.3 to 11.0 kW allows the heat output to be adapted to the current demand of the heating system.
Wood pellets are used as fuel. The SmartFire SF11 can be used both for building heating and in conjunction with domestic hot water preparation. For pellet storage, three storage containers with capacities of 150, 240, or 440 liters are available.
Technology & Equipment
The GEMA Automatic version combines the SmartFire SF11 with a lambda sensor, automatic heat exchanger cleaning, and automatic ash removal. In addition, there is the automatic stainless steel pellet burner, automatic mechanical burner cleaning, and automatic ignition.
The lambda sensor supports the control of the combustion process by measuring the residual oxygen content in the flue gas. The motor-driven heat exchanger cleaning reduces the regular manual cleaning effort of the heat exchanger.
For fuel supply, the boiler works with a screw conveyor and a backburn protection flap. The control system also handles functions of the heating system in addition to boiler operation and is operated via a touch control panel.
Automatic Ash Removal
In the Automatic version, the ash produced in the boiler is automatically transported via two screw conveyors into a laterally arranged ash container. In the container, the ash is compacted, which can significantly extend the required emptying intervals compared to a classic ash box.
In the versions with 150, 240, and 440 liter storage containers, the ash container is located to the left of the boiler. This increases the overall width of the system compared to the standard version.
Everyday Benefits
Pellet feeding, ignition, burner cleaning, heat exchanger cleaning, and ash removal run largely automatically in the Automatic version. This significantly reduces the regular operating and cleaning effort compared to the standard version.
The three available container sizes allow adaptation to different space conditions and desired pellet supplies. For systems with a spatially separated pellet storage, the pneumatic HKS Lazar Vacum conveying system can additionally be used.
System Integration & Compatibility
The SmartFire SF11 Automatic is the GEMA comfort version of the 11 kW model and is offered with lambda sensor, automatic heat exchanger cleaning, and automatic ash removal.
With a 150-liter storage container, the overall dimensions including ash removal are 1250 × 1490 × 760 mm. The 240-liter version measures 1450 × 1490 × 805 mm. With a 440-liter storage container, the overall dimensions are 1610 × 1490 × 1015 mm.
The TV kit with thermostat valve for a minimum return temperature of 55 °C is included for the hydraulic connection.

Installation
Installation, hydraulic connection, electrical connection, and chimney connection must be carried out by appropriately qualified specialist personnel. For safe operation, a minimum return temperature of 55 °C must be ensured; the TV kit is provided for this purpose.
When planning the room, in addition to the boiler and the storage tank, the left-mounted tank of the automatic ash removal system must also be taken into account. Therefore, the total widths of 1250, 1450, or 1610 mm are decisive, depending on the selected tank variant.
The required chimney draft is 5 to 10 Pa. The chimney and flue gas routing must be designed in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and applicable regulations.
Notes
The automatic ash removal reduces the necessary emptying operations, but does not replace the regular inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of the entire boiler system. The screw conveyors of the ash removal system must be regularly checked and cleaned in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
After emptying, the ash container must be correctly inserted, aligned, and sealed tightly.
The selection of the appropriate boiler output as well as the sizing of the hydraulics, hot water storage tank, and chimney must be matched to the respective building and heating system.
